Whole School Updates

Whole School Celebration of Learning - Autumn 1

Families enjoyed visiting their children's classrooms to look at books and share each child's hard work and achievements. The children loved celebrating their learning with all the adults who attended.

Harvest

Friday 18th October 2024 saw the children take part in our annual Harvest Festival.  The whole school worked hard to learn their Harvest songs, singing them to the rest of the school beautifully.  During the assembly, the children thought about the meaning of 'harvest' and what would make a healthy bag of food. They then helped Mrs Goddard to create a donation bag (not forgetting a lovely treat!).

Once again, the Courthill community have been incredibly generous, and we will be able to create some very welcome donation bags for the Food Banks used by our community.

King Charles Coronation

On the 5th May Courthill Infant School had a wonderful day celebrating the coronation of King Charles 111. We started our celebrations with Mrs Carter crowning our own King of Courthill, Mr Sherlock! The children certainly found this to be a memorable Golden Assembly. The children loved playing ‘royal’ games in Fun, Fit, Friday such as; croquet and polo. We learnt all about King Charles, his coronation and the rest of the royal family. Years 1 and 2 enjoyed writing letters to the king asking if he could continue to help protect our planet. We finished our day by celebrating as a whole school on the playground with a bubble dance party! Thank you very much to the PTA for your help with providing every child a special Coronation Day bookmark as a keepsake to help commemorate this special day.

110 year Anniversary Day

On the 25th November we all celebrated our school’s 110 year anniversary. We had a fun and memorable day learning all about what school life was like at Courthill in 1912. The children loved exploring toys as well as singing popular songs and playing playground games from this era.  We were all dressed in Edwardian clothes and the children were very excited to look through a range of photographs taken at Courthill dating all the way back to 1912. The children were fascinated to learn about an historic event that happened the year our school opened- the sinking of the Titanic! We wrote to future children of Courthill and made a whole school time capsule that will be opened in 40 years time, when our school celebrates the 150 year anniversary. Finally we all had a dance party in the hall to top off our celebrations. Thank you to Bear Flower Designs and the PTA for providing each child with a keyring as a special keepsake.

Remembrance Day 2022

On Friday 11th November the children learnt all about Remembrance Day.  As a school we took part in the national one minute silence at 11am and the children were given their very own poppy to wear.

In preporation for Remembrance Day the children made poppies at home using a variety of materials. The children have loved watching us turn their poppies into a beautiful Courthill 'poppy field' along the front of our school to share and commemorate this special day with our community.
